Cultivate your millionaire mindset and level up your income by using these simple habits and thinking behind money, wealth, and success.
Today we’re talking about how to have a millionaire mindset.
Anybody can be a millionaire.
Sure we each have different barriers to overcome on the way – some internal and some out of our control (inequality or privilege), but you can tip the scales in your favor.
There are two parts to tipping the scales and becoming a millionaire: one is mental, and the other is mechanical.
Many of us focus on the mechanical stuff, i.e., saving, investing, and working hard, but none of this creates lasting wealth unless you get the mental part right first.
The mental work is not actually about making a million dollars. It’s not even about your net worth, living in a penthouse in New York, real estate, financial freedom, or your bank account.
It’s about focusing on changing your life — starting with your mindset — to accomplish the goals you’ve always dreamed of achieving.
It’s no small task, either. You must follow purposeful habits and ways of thinking daily.
The idea is that millionaires live in a place of abundance that lets them experience greater success and confidence. So if you want to level up your finances, you start by adopting a similar abundant mindset and behaving as if you already have.
In that space, you begin to quickly pick up on opportunities to create success which in turn fuels more success.

Let’s look at each of these in more depth.
It Can Take Time
A couple of years ago, I set a goal to start a business and grow it to six figures within a year.
Two years later, I wasn’t on track at all.
It was frustrating to feel like I was hustling without being rewarded and I remember thinking… “I really thought I’d be further along than I am right now.”
Anyway, the one-year goal ended up being an arbitrary deadline. It took our business another extra year and a half to gain real traction.
Success is a patience game.
And progress can seem a little slow, especially in the beginning, but don’t let this deter you from focusing on what you want in life.
You can’t change your life in a week, and It’s okay if you don’t meet your personal goals when you’d hoped.
Good things take time, and just because things don’t always happen when you want them to doesn’t mean they never will.
You Don’t Have to Look a Certain Way
So, what does a millionaire really look like?
Give up the idea that millionaires have to look a certain way. Millionaires came in all shapes, sizes, colors, and personalities.
Many of us have this flawed vision that we would have to become a completely different person to be successful.
We think to be wealthy; we somehow need to be thinner, meditate every day, become way… way… more disciplined, wear fancy clothes all the time, and always be well made-up.
Generally, we’d have to live a very fancy life.
But what if you’re not any of those things? Does that mean people like you can’t be successful?
Of course NOT.
But if you believe you have to be all the things that social media and celebrities tell us we need to be successful, then you will block yourself from going after your goals and achieving financial freedom.
So again, what does a millionaire look like? Exactly like you! So be sure to look in the mirror every morning and remind yourself that you are exactly what a millionaire looks like.
You Don’t Need to Change Your Personality
Some people almost feel like they have to shift into another dimension before they can be allowed to be wealthy.
But do they?
Ask yourself…
What preconceptions do you have about being a millionaire?
- Do you think you have to completely change how you dress or even who you are as a person?
- Do you feel like you have to become a better person before you deserve to be a millionaire?
If you really examine your beliefs, you’ll realize that you are probably holding yourself back because you’re just not ever going to be that person.
(Maybe deep down, you don’t even want to be that person).
Time to clear your story about millionaires.
Maybe you have to forgive yourself for not being “perfect enough” or “good enough” to be rich.
Or forgive other people in your life who have a different path to success than you do.
Clear your stories around what the media and movies have shown you about what millionaires do or how they behave.
Society often tells us that successful people are manipulative, high fashion, and a bit evil.
You have to clear all that stuff before you can give yourself permission to be wealthy your way.
Give Yourself Permission
Give yourself permission to be exactly who you are and be wealthy.
You might think, “Well, I’m very eco-conscious, so I can’t be wealthy because if I was wealthy, I would turn into this greedy person who hates the environment.”
Or you think, “I like wearing flip-flops and shorts every day. I can’t be wealthy because rich people are really well-dressed all the time.”
Maybe you think you have to change your accent or other things about yourself before you’re worthy.
When you give yourself permission to be who you REALLY are and rich, it’s incredibly powerful.
- You can be rich and environmentally friendly.
- You can be rich and generous.
- You can be rich and down to earth.
- You can be rich and happy.
- You can be rich and spiritual.
Whatever it is that you are now, you can be the same thing with money.
Remember, money just enhances who you already are.
If you’re somebody who is greedy and manipulative, you’re going to continue to be that whether you’re rich or poor.
If you’re someone who is ethical and kind, you can rest assured that money is not going to change that.
It’s not going to ruin who you already are. It’s just going to enhance it.
Money is just a tool.
Clarity Is Your Superpower
Get clear!
“The number one reason most people don’t get what they want is that they don’t know what they want.”
You need to move beyond vague dreams and goals like “I want to be rich” and figure out exactly what you want.
Although vague goals can feel motivating, they won’t help you become wealthy because they don’t activate your millionaire mind and, therefore, won’t inspire you to take action.
While your specific needs and goals will vary from person to person, the millionaire’s mind is clearly fixed on the outcome of wealth.
This clarity of mind, accompanied by clarity of heart, and the desire to help as many people as possible, is at the center of a millionaire’s mindset.
If you understand who you are, your strengths and weaknesses, where you’re going, and what difference you can make in the world, you become unstoppable.
Just Take Action
A powerful way to develop a millionaire mindset is to tell yourself that you’re on the right path now, and every day you’re taking action towards that goal.
It’s okay if you’re not there yet.
Maybe you’re a couple of years away from hitting a million dollars.
Take action and know that you’re on your way – you’re on that journey now.
If you know that you’re on the path, then there’s nothing you need to fundamentally change about yourself.
Just take action.
Accept Mistakes As They Come
As you begin to take action, you will make mistakes.
Mistakes help support you to grow and learn. So, see them as opportunities to learn instead of as things to avoid at all costs.
Remember, too, that there is a difference between sloppy mistakes (avoid those) and plans that don’t work out but give you more information and insight to try a new tactic.
Failures are opportunities to learn about yourself and also offer a great way to develop new skills for the future.
Instead of dwelling on your mistakes, reflect on them, accept or fix them as you continue to grow.
Act From Your Millionaire Filter
A powerful reframe is to take action from the filter of the millionaire mindset.
Ask yourself – “How would millionaire (your name) act? What would HE/SHE do?”
How would a millionaire you act? What action would you take next to continue on this path of becoming a millionaire? It really doesn’t have to be more complicated than that.
There are no Secrets to Becoming a Millionaire.
Honestly – there aren’t any secrets that you don’t know about becoming a millionaire.
- You will continue to grow, change, learn, make mistakes and take action.
- You don’t need to do anything differently.
- You don’t need to change who you are.
- You don’t need to suddenly become a “better” person.
You are already there!
